AN ACTION ALERT FROM CATHOLIC CONFERENCE OF OHIO to support Medicaid Reform

Because of our concern for the poor and vulnerable the Catholic Conference of Ohio joins with Ohio Catholic Hospitals and Catholic Charities agencies in advocating for an expansion of Medicaid coverage.

Medicaid Expansion: The federal matching rate for expanding Medicaid to people with incomes up to 138 percent FPL is more favorable to the state than the current matching rate (63 percent federal funds / 37 percent state funds).  Under the Affordable Care Act, Ohio has the option of choosing to have the federal government pick up 100 percent of the state’s expansion cost until 2017.  The state’s cost of the expansion in 2017 and beyond would be only 10 cents on the dollar.  The State Controlling Board will be voting on the Governor’s proposal to expand Medicaid on Monday, October 21, 2013.
