Ohio Tax Relief Bill needs Your Support!

For over 9 years, the Masons, Prince Hall Masons, Knights of Columbus, Grange, and the Odd Fellows have sought a real estate tax exemption for their Halls to help reduce the cost of

operation so that the facilities could be sustained as community resources.

Representative Jim Hughes of Columbus has introduced House Bill 59, which would make property owned by qualifying fraternal orders and used primarily for administrative or meeting purposes exempt from property tax.  Those qualifying fraternal orders are the Masons, Prince Hall Masons, Knights of Columbus, Grange, and the Odd Fellows, all of which have had a state governing body for at least 100 years and qualify for exemption from taxation under section 501c10, 501c8 or 501c5 of the IRS code and provides support for charitable purposes as defined by R.C. 5739.02(B)(12).

House Bill 59 needs the active support of every Knight.  Please contact your local State Representative and ask him or her to support this bill.  You can contact your local representative by visiting www.house.state.oh.us or by calling 800-282-0253.
