Dennis Shonebarger

Dennis J. Shonebarger, longtime clerk and dear friend of the Browning & Meyer Co. legal practice, died March 9 after battling heart disease.

The Browning & Meyer family extends its prayers and deepest sympathies to the Shonebarger family.

We loved you and miss you terribly, Denny.

Services will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, March 14-15.

Dennis James Shonebarger

Shonebarger, age 76, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2017 at Mount Carmel West Hospital, surrounded by his family. Denny was born on April 11, 1940, to the late Francis Shonebarger and Louise (Hickey) Shonebarger. Also preceded in death by his brothers Phillip and Joseph Shonebarger. Denny graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School, Newark Ohio, in 1958. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1973, and his Master of Science in Business Administration in 1975; both from The Ohio State University. Most of Denny’s career was in Information Technology. After retirement, he worked for Browning & Meyer Co., LPA. He loved working and helping others. Of Catholic faith, Denny was a 50 year proud member of the Knights of Columbus and held the positions of Grand Knight, Santa Maria Council 2898 from 1977 to 1978; State Deputy, Ohio State Council from 1993 to 1995; and was currently the Financial Secretary for Father Raymond Bauschard Council 13581. Denny was responsible for the Knights of Columbus Ohio State Council’s Scholarship program. Denny loved sports, especially playing golf. He was a lifelong fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. He played basketball in high school, softball, bowling and golf for the Knights of Columbus; he coached little league baseball for Saint Mary Magdalene; Denny refereed high school basketball and umpired softball and high school baseball. A lifelong stamp collector, he was a member of the American Philatelic Society. Denny’s biggest joy in life was spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patsy (Hannum) Shonebarger; children, Pamela (David) Gardner, Kimberly (Michael) Mulholand, Dennis (Kimberly) Shonebarger, Jr., Ann Shonebarger; grandchildren, Erin (Jason) Pedicini, Claire Mulholand, Connor Mulholand, Daniel (Jessica) Shonebarger, Michael (Jessica Walsh) Shonebarger and Ariana Shonebarger; great grandson, Owen Pedicini; and a great granddaughter, Pedicini due in August, 2017; siblings, Thomas (Cheryl) Shonebarger, Marian Shonebarger, David (Teresa) Shonebarger, Beth Trost, Holly Mason and Maureen Shonebarger; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Mount Carmel West for their wonderful care and love; Dr. Guinn, Dr. Davis, Dr. Ralston, Dr. Jos. Duffy, Dr. Salim, Dr. Closser, Dr. Hagan, Dr. Dellinger, Dr. Duffy; RNs in the MICI, Ben, Amanda, Gia, Katie, Lailah, Cassy; Palliative Care, Dr. Santa-Emma and Kolby. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 473 South Roys Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43204. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 473 South Roys Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43204, with Father Stanley Benecki officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Grove City, Ohio.
