Terrible natural disasters bring focus on need to plan

plans NewsletterAs we enter the fall season, our hearts go out to the tens of thousands of survivors in Texas and Louisiana dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. And as Hurricane Irma bears down on Florida, our hearts are heavy as tens of thousands more face the wrath of another powerful storm, which may roll well up the Atlantic Coast.

As estate planning attorneys, these terrible natural disasters make us think: Are we ready? Are our clients ready for the unplanned but inevitable events that will affect our lives dramatically?

At Browning & Meyer, we are here to help you plan for the future, to be secure as possible, and to make choices in advance – before “advance” leaves the equation. Please contact us to make certain you have all necessary legal arrangements in place and up to date, should a crisis strike.

Below is a link to our September 2017 Browning & Meyer Co., LPA newsletter. I lead the newsletter with an introduction similar to this blog entry.

The newsletter also carries several informational articles to help you with planning and navigating senior care. Included are articles about:

  • How to pay your Medicare premiums online;
  • The importance of using an attorney for Medicaid planning;
  • The “kiddie tax” involved with leaving an IRA to a grandchild; and
  • HUD’s scheduled  increase the required upfront mortgage insurance premium on smaller reverse mortgages.

Please take advantage of this newsletter resource, and we also invite you to follow Browning & Meyer on Facebook or Twitter.

We work to gather and share information that we know you will find useful, on a regular basis, in addition to keeping you informed on important legal issues through this blog on ElderLaw.US. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

Thank you for continuing to read our monthly newsletter and we look forward to working with you.
